The Kerala resort has 18 tastefully furnished cottages designed in ethnic Kerala architectural style. There are six standard cottages, eight deluxe cottages and four luxury cottages. Deluxe and luxury cottages include a living room and dining area in addition to bedroom and balcony, from which one can see spectacular sunrises, tea plantations, waterfalls, tropical forests and life in the valley below. The valley is almost like a big basin with your cottage on the edge of it. The Kerala Honeymoon Cottages at Blackberry Hills are in a class by themselves with their own trekking paths and magnificent views of the hills and plantations.

“We are changing to become the first SPA destination in Munnar. Our aim is to promote Munnar as a spa destination,” said the enterprising Mr. Samad. “We intend to push the day spa concept among foreign tourists and corporate travelers, he added.
Another thing that Blackberry Hills Retreat and Spa is looking to promote is the spectacular night view.
Mr. Johnson Joseph, General Manager of Blackberry Hills Retreat and Spa said, “We would like to sell the nights. The night view is excellent and unique at Blackberry. The sight of the stars and the distant lights take you to another world!”
One can get a feel of the tropical wilderness by opting to stay in the Swiss tents in the exclusive forestation area of blackberry Estate. Breathe in the virgin air and watch and listen to the sights and sounds of nature in this truly exotic atmosphere. The lucky get to see barking deer, rabbit wild boar and the exotic Giant Malabar Squirrel. On the other side of the Blackberry Estate is the guarded camping area. About 64 species of birds thrive in the Pallivasal Basin, from the Kestrel to the Malabar whistling thrush, from the Black Eagle to fly-catcher.
“We are also planning to set up an interpretation centre here. The centre would give details on how the local ecosystem functions with the help of audio-video aids and also provide practical examples of the same”, explained Mr.Samad.
The Munnar Resorts multi cuisine restaurant which has an excellent view, serves sumptuous buffets while the Deluxe and Luxury cottages have a dining area and food can be sent to the cottage in hot packs. Traditional Kerala style lunches and snacks are served and the chef even obliges with cookery sessions for the interested. A tribal menu is on the cards.
One major attraction is the manner in which resort make use of the Vetriver plant. Apart from being used to prevent soil erosion, vetriver is even used here to make herbal drinking water! The interest in the use of the vetriver in Blackberry Hills prompted a visit by Mr. Paul Turont, Secretary, International Vetriver Network.
Apart from trekking, the adventurous can go on mountain-biking trips. Entertainment also comes in the form of Tholpavakoothu or leather puppetry.The Munnar resort has an extensive collection of CDs and rare books on this art form.
Blackberry Estate has an extensive farm area which follows sustainable organic farming practices for growing spices like cardamom and pepper. A variety of fruit trees abound-orange, plum, tree tomato, jambolan(Indian blackberry), jackfruit, rosewood, coffee, castor, passion fruit, sisal, exotic spices like cinnamon, clove and a sizeable collection of ferns.
A network of roads including Highway 49 connects the place to almost all South Indian cities.
